RCC at South Eastern RC 25

Conditions were pretty good for this morning's South Eastern RC 25 at Broadbridge Heath. Mike had a lie in, but Geoff, Andrew and Duncan turned out, all starting close together just after 7:30, by which time the air had warmed up nicely.

This was Duncan's first TT for nearly three months, so he wasn't too disappointed to go just outside the hour. Andrew took 47 seconds off his PB from 2005, while Geoff was over a minute outside his PB from a fortnight ago.

Dorking to Peaslake via Reynards Hill

19 of us met at Ryka's cafe including 4 led by Adam who had already done the fast ride from Reigate Hill and newcomers Alastair & Toby.

We went along the cycle track by the dual carriageway to Denbies Vineyard and then up the long climb to the top of Ranmore Common, past the church and along the edge of Ranmore Common Road to Ranmore Lodge and then on to Netley Heath.

Reigate Hill to Newlands Corner and back

Reigate Hill to Newlands Corner

It was a tall order to cover the 17 miles off road from Reigate Hill to Newlands Corner in and hour and a half, hence why it was advertised as a fast ride. Mark arrived in plenty of time and decided to get a 10 minute head start by setting off early. The rest of us got away soon after 8am to head across the ridge towards Headley. Making the most of Lodge Bottom Lane we arrived at the base of Box Hill in very good time.

RCC At Charlotteville 25

Well I did get a ride in the Charlotteville 25 as a reserve, however it was a top class field including 19 of the best ladies in the south of England every one of which did a far better than I did the fastest being Julie Shaw (GS Strada) with a time 55.48 second was Lesley-Anne Walkling (Science in Action.com) 57.33

Masters wins Round 4, extends lead

Jon Masters won Round 4 of Redhill CC's 2007 TT series at Horne this evening, extending his lead in the scratch competition.

Masters narrowly beat Trevor Chilman, who just cracked the hour on Sunday and seems to be improving every week.

Jed Rock made is debut in the 2007 series, and on the Horne course, overshooting the first corner - as so many of us have done (!) - otherwise he would have been even closer to Masters and Chilman.

Youngster Richard Tallent posted the biggest improvement on PB to take maximum points in this week's handicap competition.

RCC at Norwood Paragon 25

The heavy rain that had been forecast held off until just as the last riders were coming home in this morning's Robin Buchan memorial '25' at Broadbridge Heath.

Five RCC riders were entered, but only three started: Nathan Chamberlain, Geoff Clifton and Andrew Murray. Nathan was disappointed with his time, Geoff did a '25' PB, and Andrew did his quickest '25' of the year so far.

Masters takes Round 2 of TT Series

Jon Masters made it two wins out of two when he won the second round of Redhill CC's 2007 time trial series at Horne this evening.

Riders had to battle blustery conditions, but the rain earlier in the day had eased off leaving the three tight bends on the Newchapel circuit dry enough for fast cornering.

With his two wins Masters has already accumulated 20 points out of the maximum 80 for the series. Geoff Clifton was first on handicap posting the best improvement on his PB.

Let's hope the summer returns for Round 3, next Wednesday 16th May, 7:30 pm, at Horne.
