Set to Rise

A Ride with a Difference Just 8 miles is all you need to do to complete 1 lap of the Set 2 Rise course. The number of laps depends on rest of your team mates and your willpower to complete as many circuits as possible within the 12 hours. To add to the fun, the race takes place overnight, from 6pm to 6am. What an excuse to be out all night!
Riding in a team of 4 would give you 3-4 laps each, where you decide how to spread them out. Pairs would give you 6-7 laps each, whilst solo junkies could manage about 12 laps equating to 100 miles. The party atmosphere at the Start/Finish area for those not out riding is something to be experienced.
We plan to use the new RCC gazebo as our base, stocked with your refreshments and spares to keep those legs pumping and wheels turning. The race is organised by SPAM Biking in Salisbury where there are prizes for top places. The course last year was well marshalled by a troop of army cadets and other officials, so help was at hand if required. Along the course were a variety of single track sections, interspersed with open areas and fire tracks. Repeating the same sections last year helped me to pick the best line and hone my skills as the night wore on.
More information isavailable at www.spambiking.co.uk/eventsOpen.asp?eventID=21 If you want to soak up the atmosphere but don’t want to ride, those participating would really value your support. Setting out on the course in the early hours of the morning can be so much easier if there is a support crew providing help and motivation.
The first step is to inform Gareth or Richard via the forum that you want to join us saying what size of team you want to enter (Team of 4, Pairs or Solo). We then need to make up the teams noting that mixed teams and all female teams are more likely to get a podium place. Time is of the essence as the race is on 29th May. Please let us know if you can join us.
