age limit on rides

Submitted by phil101 on Mon, 01/05/2009 - 09:35

We had a 15 year old boy on last Saturdays offroad ride not accompanied by his parent. While I think we should encourage new young people into the club the Saturday rides are not beginners rides and such an inexperienced rider is a big responsiblity. I would welcome comments from others re under 16's in particular.

Sporting training ride.

The ride this Saturday (3rd) for the faster “sporting” group will start at 11:00 and not at the usual time of 9:00.

This will (hopefully) ensure that there’s no ice around when we ride over to Brockham and meet up with others to ride the (infamous?) “CTC Hilly 55K”

Club ride to Wiggenholt

Submitted by GrahamHaysom on Tue, 12/30/2008 - 13:56

Start from the Angel at 9.00 for a ride through the lanes of Surrey and Sussex to the RSPB cafe at Wiggenholt. Start building your mileage in preparation for longer rides as the days get lighter. We should be back by 15.00.

Club ride to Penshurst.

Submitted by GrahamHaysom on Tue, 12/30/2008 - 13:51

We take the scenic route to Penshurst for tea and cakes and a shorter but equally attractive way back. Start from the Angel at 9.00 and expect to be back by 14.30.

If conditions are icy the ride will go ahead but will be on main roads for as long as is necessary.

Intermediate club ride.

Join Brian at 9.00 at the Angel for a club ride that is not too fast or too long. Expect to be back by 13.00 after about 35 miles at a steady pace and a tea stop. If you wish to sample a club ride or your ride time is limited, then this is the ideal ride.

Extra Christmas MTB ride

Submitted by rccadmin on Mon, 12/29/2008 - 00:00

For those of you who have indulged a little too much over the festive period, Steve will be running an extra MTB ride this year from Reigate Hill. Keeping to about 20 miles and taking in a tea stop (if there's anywhere open) the aim is to be back by 1300 and possibly have a festive jar in The Sportsman.
