Hello! After finding myself slowing down for the wet patches on the North Downs on Sunday I am considering a set of mudguards for my (full sus 27.5") MTB. After some intense googling I have an idea of the kind of thing that's notionally "best", but wondered if anyone has recommendations of recent models or alternative wisdom? The rear one seems to be easy; the front one is where the fun starts:
- ideally I'd like to avoid the use of cable ties because I like the idea of quickly putting them on pre-ride if the ground looks sticky
- it seems that the ones fitting under the fork "cross beam" are better than the "moto-cross" style ones that fit into the steering post hole
- I'm ruling out frame-mounted ones (like the crudcatchers) because they can't protect the forks from mud/spray
Am I barking up the right trees? I'm leaning towards:
Front: Mudhugger Front Race or Muckynutz Face Fender XL
Rear: Topeak XC11
Please opine!
Thanks,
Richard
