THE REDHILL CC RACERS' FUND
Thanks to financial support from a number of senior Redhill CC members, the club now has a special fund dedicated to encourage and support prospective club racers on their first steps in the racing world. It will support any club rider who enters 4th or 3rd Category races as a Redhill CC member. It will cover entry fees for their first (or next) three races representing the club, plus £5 per race (if required) towards petrol/transport costs if required. Usually this will total around £20 to £25 per race.
'Races' are those eligible for British Cycling Points (for the rider and the club) at venues such as Preston Park, Lee Valley, Redbridge, Dunsfold, Hillingdon and Goodwood as well as road races such as those staged by Surrey League, SERRL and LVRC.
The aim is to tap into our incredible pool of strong riders in the club who may not so far have considered racing.. and to encourage them to join and work together, build fitness and re-establish Redhill CC as a credible racing force in the area.
Any rider with a silver or above British Cycling racing licence can enter 4th Cat races. If they place in the top 10 they will gain BC points. When they have 12 points they become 3rd Cat riders and never return to 4th Cat!
We have good current racers in the club and this offer extends to them too. They can participate too and receive support for their next three races. We hope that everyone will start to work together to everyone's benefit and the Club's pride.
The rules are simple:
1) A £30 fund cap per rider per race (ie. a £90 cap for your three races)
2) You must race in a Redhill shirt
3) UK categorised races only - no sportives or foreign jaunts!
To participate, make sure you have your British Cycling Licence then enter a race. Then forward your entry email or screengrab to redhillracersfund@gmail.com. We will arrange for a direct transfer or a cheque within 30 days.
We will also try to encourage others to race with you and members to be there to support you.
MTB riders, we are working on something very similar for you. Let's get this one launched and running first and then we can use the best bits for you too. However, if you're an MTB rider desperate to enter a race in RCC colours and needing a bit of financial support, please drop a line!
