Garmin Software Update

Some good changes with new update that has just come out if you have a 510/810/1000.

1. You got real time segments now. e.g you approach box hill and Garmin will tell you a segment is coming up then you race real time against your followers / your personal best Something that was only on Edge 1000 before but now open to 510/810 owners (you need to put the segments into Garmin as a one off exercise for it to work)

2. You get a new cycling dynamics screen if required. Shows standing/seated time. Where on pedal most pressure applied and some nice graphics here as well. NOTE you must have Garmin vector power meter pedals and the dual version (NOTE - NOT the left hand power meter only model). Might be of use to Howard who runs Vector?

3. Garmin remote control now works with 510/810 so can change screens, switch to map or start/stop lap without moving your hands from hoods.

4. Dura Ace shifter support on Di2 if you have Shimano garmin unit. This is nice - basically can change the screens on the edge 1000 like using the Garmin remote control with the two hidden buttons in the top of the DA hoods so can throw away that remote control. Can program these independently so have left button to go previous, right button to go next screen and also caters for hold down on both buttons so can have say show elevation screen on left hold down button and show map perhaps or backlight on the other. If on etube and ultegra can just swap shifters to DA and it works but shame Ultegra does not have these hidden buttons in hoods :(

5. Edge 510/810 now get the di2 gear to display graphically if you have Shimino garmin unit.

6. Edge 1000 ONLY -- you now can choose between portrait or landscape E.g able to rotate your unit 90 degrees

7. Edge 1000 ONLY -- finally the odometer is back. You do not have bike profiles as with edge 510/810 but you nearly got what you want. Instead mileage is stored per activity profile. So if you want to keep mileage between winter and summer bike just create two activity profiles e.g summer training which you use bike 1 and winter training which you use bike 2
