Recently the oldest saddle I have (Brooks Team Pro) failed, fortunately only a short distance from home. On inspection the tension pin had sheared. No problem, thought I, a quick squizz on the internet will buy me a spare part.
So onto the Brooks England Ltd website, address in Smethwick, ordered the part, £5.40 - for a nut and bolt?
Imagine my surprise when I tracked the order. Sent via DHL, in Verona Italy. Then onto Brescia Italy. Arrived at East Midlands airport, but then left and arrived at Heathrow. Then arrived at work is afternoon. All for what is effectively a nut and bolt......
Can anyone work out how much I have to ride that bike to offset the carbon emissions resulting from my extravagant order? Brooks England? I think not!
