Acceptable Committee communications

Folks

During an RCC committee meeting earlier this year - following an issue that had arisen with regard to emails - it was agreed that if a club member would like to raise a suggestion or concern relating to the club or its governance with the committee by email, then their email should be capable of being shared with the whole committee.

If it concerns the club, then there are no secrets at the committee. That ensures openness, honesty and trust. An email that asks a committee member not to forward it to others is likely to be divisive and as such has no part here.

If members do have suggestions to raise with the whole committee, you are welcome to send these through to me or another member but this does not guarantee that every item will be discussed or responded to.  A much better way is that raised in the June minutes, that members post their ideas on the forum - which the committee look at regularly - then if others chip in and say 'great idea', we know it has backing and support from a wider quorum.

All of the Committee have day jobs. We hold our roles  for the love of cycling and the love of RCC as a friendly, inclusive, popular and in many cases extremely talented club! Emails are like votes - they can be cast and will always count  - but not every single one will get a detailed reply or acknowledgement because we also have to find time to hold body and soul (and families) together and to cycle!

If anyone disagrees with the principle above, please feel free to note your reasons below as a comment. If a good reason is posted as to why it should be acceptable to send criticisms, suggestions or ideas to a few committee members and not others regarding club matters, then we will gladly review this principle.... but until then, every RCC committee member reserves the right to forward RCC-related correspondence to all their fellow committee members.

Many thanks everyone. I know you will understand!

Adrian
