Received this plug for a cycle friendly hotel.

The annual 'season ending' trip to France was on, off, back on, back off a few times this year but is now definitely going ahead from 28th to 30th September based in the town of Etaples (around 40 minutes drive south of Calais) so that we can ride both south and inland and explore new areas.

For those who may not have seen the announcement on Facebook, sadly Bike Beans cycle cafe in Ashtead is closing. The post says -

It is with a very heavy heart, I have to accept the journey is nearly over for Bike Beans Cycle Café as we know it.  Our last day of trading, I suspect, will be Thursday 29th March.

Folks, you'll have heard how good the sessions at Herne Hill are - if not ask Adrian, Stuart Bunt, Kimbers, John Baldwin, Andrew Saunders etc. You get two hours of coaching and the hire of a track bike on this iconic track for just £15. Garmin have released their group track feature on the Edge 1000 (via software update). Previously only available on the 820.  It will allow you to see the position of your riding partners on your Edge 1000/820 MAP screen as long as they have enabled group track. The radius is 10 miles so if within 10 miles of you each rider will show up on the Edge map screen as a blue dot with their initial. It also works on the 810 but one way only (people can see you on their map with an 820/1000 but you can not see them on your map on the 810, as the feature is not fully supported). 

Peter Bedingfield of EGCC has been organising multi-club sessions at Herne Hill Velodrome with a coach for a few months now. It is two hours on a fixed wheel bike incorporating skills, track protocol, training laps and mini-competitions (ie Australian Pursuit, team pursuit).

The cost is £15 for two hours which includes hire of a track bike (HH have lots!) and the coach's time. 

You need to make your own way up by car or train but this is relatively easy via E Cryoydon and a short ride from Herne Hill if going by bike.

Folks, 

There is a spare slot for someone to join a session at Herne Hill Velodrome this Sunday 5th Feb from 1 - 3pm, learning to ride a fixed wheel track back at the famous venue. The cost is £15 plus hire of a bike at the venue and your transport to get there.  It's relatively easy to get a Redhill to Herne Hill train or drive.  Please can anyone interested, let me know ASAP by emailing adewebb@gmail.com.
