Summer Club Rides

An overdue update...We are running Club Rides most weekends now and the numbers of riders are rising, biggest so far was 20 a couple of weeks back. Yesterday's ride comprised eleven keen people.

Saturday's shorter rides are best for beginners / intermediates. We try to ride at a speed which keeps everyone together, we don't want to lose you! HOWEVER, you should be able to ride ten miles without getting out of puff before joining one of these rides.

Sunday's are longer rides, this weekend's was 65 miles through mostly quiet lanes. A fantastic group of skilful cyclists, properly attired in helmets, club shirts and mitts! Again we try to keep everyone together, at least to the tea stop, those who find the pace a bit much are helped out with a rest and/or a short cut.

Weekend rides are a great road to fitness because you ride a bit harder and further than you ever would on your own. It's also much more fun, lovely to chat to people, the miles zip by and it's safer than riding alone.

As weekend rides get bigger, we might split into two groups. The 'A Team' (!) will ride around 17mph average, the B Team around 15mph. That's one for discussion, catering for all levels of fitness is the Holy Grail for all clubs.
