Redhill Raiders
Monday, August 2, 2010 - 21:05

The Redhill Raiders is Redhill Cycling Club's own coaching squad for junior riders.

The Raiders meet fortnightly at Furzefield Primary School which is in Merstham and there are two sessions each fortnight:

 5 - 9 year olds from 12noon to 1pm

10 – 16 year olds from 1.15pm to 2.30pm

If your child would like to receive coaching with the Raiders they will need a bike –any bike – but in working order, a helmet, clothing with no flappy parts on the lower leg that can get snagged by the chain/pedals, mitts (preferably) to protect your hands, a parental consent form (available on the day) and £2 per session to cover our costs.

The Raiders is run by John Leitch a British Cycling Level 2 Club Coach who formed this junior cycle squad to teach youngsters in the schools in this area who want to improve their skills on a bike.  He is supported by a number of other British Cycling coaches and trainee coaches.

By meeting and riding in a space that is free from traffic, we offer kids the chance to work on bike handling skills.Already, Redhill Raiders riders have gone on to race successfully at junior races at a local and national level. We are confident that if your child has cycling talent, the Raiders can help to spot and develop it.
