70TH Birthday Ride By Sharon Houghton
On a chilly morning we set off from the drome, our aim being to get to café 1809 in Hildenborough and back in time for a hog roast and beer at 2pm completing 70k in total.
After a photo shoot at the Dog and Duck we made our way to 1809 in good time and were greeted by Dame Kelly Holmes herself who promptly wiped down a table for us and made us welcome.
On the way back the boys headed off at a speedier pace and the girls and Richard stopped for a Photo with Dame Kelly.
In Edenbridge the g4’s whizzed past us and Gina joined our group for a leisurely return to the drome. In the end we managed 47miles or 75k but I am pretty sure if we had returned to the 'drome rather then the Dog and Duck we would not have overcooked it ! Thank you to Frank for arranging a lovely afternoon it was great to mix socially with The MTB boys and girls and catch up with some of the more senior members in the club .
