Sunny morning in the Southern Counties

Sunday morning saw the local time trialling world get back to business with most competitors first fast 25 of the season.

Peppered with roadworks for much of last year the G25/53 course was back available and 5 Redhill riders entered.

Times on the board were slower than usual due to a stiff Northerly breeze that made it's intentions first known with a strong tailwind to the Southwater roundabout turnaround. There is a certain impending sense of doom prevalent as you cruise at an effortless 35mph toward a U-turn, and it was worse than imagined.

Despite this Pete Tadros took the win with a 51:52 that was around a minute slower than his time last September.

Redhill riders finished as follows:-

Geoff Clifton - 1:08:57 (64th)

Nick Davey - 1:01:58 (41st)

Brian Hennessey - 1:01:04 (36th)

Maurice Brennan - 55:55 (7th)

Unfortunately Michelle punctured (again!) on a flint just before her start. After rushing back and being kindly loaned a spare training wheel by a chap from Kingston Phoenix, she went and did a 1:06, but struck her time from the results in anger.

Many thanks to Nathan Chamberlain and Cynthia Hennessey who both gave up their time to marshall at the event as per our club responsibility. Cynthia is short of marshalls for the RCC hosted Surrey League evening handicap on 1st May, so if you have an evening spare to watch some local racing please volunteer your services to roadracing@redhillcc.co.uk
