Organised by Andrew Green of the Addiscombe an interclub is an interesting format where the top 6 times from each club are taken and aggregated - which ever club has the lowest time wins.
Additionally this evening a mystery RCC sponsor put up extremely generous prizes for mens scratch victory, womens scratch victory, fastest vet and for all 6 members of the winning team.
Redhill turned up with the cream of club, a squad made up of prolific road racers, European championship-level triathletes and of course - dedicated testers.
The TT was held on the brutal Bletchingley race circuit, 10.8 miles of technical 50mph (if your name is Leeson) descents and sustained steep climbs. Many RCC supporters were out on the course cheering us on which helped immensely.
Despite this TT bikes were still ultimately quicker with Charl Jordaan stomping to the scratch victory with 26:22, Maurice following in 2nd and 1st in the RCC team (26:43). However they were chased all the way by Addiscombe's Keith Lea (27:13) and RCC's own Dom (27:23) on road bikes for 3rd and 4th respectively - both great rides.
Ray Sullivan came in next for 5th overall, Neil Candler 6th, Ryan Visser 7th and Brian Hennessey 8th overall making up RCC's fastest team of 6.
Fastest female rider overall was Robyn Yates of Addiscombe with 32:55.
With such strong rides and RCC having 9 riders in the top 10 overall team victory was assured.
Thanks to Addiscombe for organising the event, John Eg for time keeping, the numerous marshalls and supporters around the course that made it feel like an Open, and not least the generous mystery sponsor whose prize paid for my dinner on the way home! There was a great atmosphere throughout the evening, eventually ending up at the Prince Albert pub.
