Windy return

Seven riders, Damon, Simon and Pete left early. Charles, Chris S, Andre and myself went to Four Elms for tea. The ride was out to Toys Hill via Chalk Pit Lane approximately 52 miles. The return was unpleasant with the wind in our faces. Again on this ride, everybody took turns at the front. From the weather reports I expected cloud initially with sun later; it felt more like cloudy with some patchy sun and lots of wind, but I suppose it is winter! The scary section was climbing Chalk Pit Lane, having to move towards the left of the road to allow cars to pass, and in doing so the road was very slippery, in one place the back wheel felt like it was turning slowly with no traction. Reminded me of the first climb at Exmoor and attempting to cross the cattle grid, half way up a steep hill. Chris H
