Knees blurred, wires crossed

Another great evening of effort down at the YMCA, with plenty of challenges and comedy moments thrown in for good measure.

Old lags Nick, Chris Stone and Chris Hall, Maria and Rupert (concentrating intensely and impressively to stay on his rollers) and myself were joined by Meera and Charl.

We had to wait for a team of theatrical-looking folk to clear the room so only got underway at 7.45pm... but the keen bunch more than made up for it as we did another session of 20-40s. 20 seconds hard effort followed by 40 seconds recovery in three blocks of eight. Believe me, both effort and recovery go VERY quickly when you're doing this and an innocuous-sounding exercise is actually somewhat challenging.

I faced an extra challenge as my turbo started edging backwards under the force of kinetic overload. It edged all the way into the make-shift sound system speaker wire which got sucked into my cassette.

Chris Stone took control for the 5 minutes it took to unwrap oily wire from around my drive train. There may have been chuckles but I couldn't be sure.

Excellent efforts from everyone. You know it's been a good session when people are pulling wads of paper towel out of the dispenser to mop lakes of sweat from the floor.

Even the music appeared to go down well. But the speaker will take a little bit of fixing!

Thanks everyone

Adrian
