Wet on the way to Wiston!

Twelve riders started out from the park by the Angel, Woodhatch Sunday morning to go on a social ride to Wiston. After all the wind and rain it was with some trepidation - would it be windy and wet? We weren't to be disappointed although it was 30 miles after the start. Up until then we had enjoyed reasonable weather, the occasional spot of rain and gusty wind from the west. However, within about a mile to go to the tea stop the heavens opened, the wind roared and we were hit by the most almighty power shower, spray coming up from the road, zero visibility, it couldn't have been worse. Cycling as fast as we could we raced to our destination and dripping, dived under cover to the welcome warm and dry of the tea rooms. 45 minutes later, fortified by food and numerous cups of tea, we left expecting a further dousing. However we were met with bright blue sky and a very enjoyable ride home. The wind if anything was more on our backs than in our faces and spirits were once again at a high. I take no responsibility for the rain but total responsibility for the sunshine, of course.
