18 riders turned out on a grey, overcast and extremely cold morning at the top of Reigate Hill for a new ride today. After Helen & Mike fixied a puncture before the start we got off at what must be said was a fairly brisk pace in the hope of keeping warm and covering a somewhat ambitious winter distance!
After heading out to Headley and across Mickleham Downs we descended to the foot of Box Hill, along the A24 for a short distance before a new loop up through the back of Denbies, Ashcombe Wood and on in a roundabout fashion to Bocketts Farm for a welcome tea stop and festive themed photograph courtesy of Phil.
Slightly warmed but refreshed the return leg was swiftly dispatched with few stops, via Leatherhead Downs and Walton Heath ending up back at Reigate Hill shortly after one. Aside from the puncture at the start there were no other untoward incidents – an enjoyable winter blast!
