Reigate Hill to Bocketts Farm

The rain from the previous weeks had eased and the sun was trying to come out to dry the trails. A healthy 20 riders gathered at Reigate Hill for a familiar ride to Bocketts farm, or was it for their Mars Bar cake?

A new rider, Sam joined us and John returned from a long break. Also Jon Linscott was back in the saddle having recovered from a broken collar bone when he led a ride from Guildford in May. He misjudged a jump just yards from the finish point at Reigate. We have now named this jump at the top of Fort Lane as “Linscott’s Leap” (see Pic).

The ride was delayed by a couple of punctures near the start giving everyone a chance to have a good chat. Progress was a bit slow in places as we encountered a total of 24 horses, and there were other cyclists using the bridleways in the opposite direction. Breaking away from the congestion, we were able to have a few fast runs to get the adrenaline pumping. Taking a short cut to Bocketts Farm we found that the long uphill on the way back made an excellent descent.

The Mars Bar cake was as good as it always is, and after a quick photo around a tractor, we made our way back to Reigate Hill.
