Newlands Corner to Reigate

Arriving at Newlands Corner, there was quite a gathering of eager cyclists all sipping cups of tea. Not wanting to miss out, those of us on the early ride from Reigate grabbed a quick cuppa before setting off.

Slightly later than planed, due to a puncture, we headed east towards Reigate. The first part through woods is fairly easy going, but then it gets a bit muddy where we had to avoid the rather deep puddles. Somewhere along here, Paul punctured, which was quickly fixed.

There is a rather stony bridleway descent going down to Polsden Lacey, where Jon Linscott had a rock hit his shin. A bit of swelling and a bit of 1st aid, coupled with a small amount of sympathy, got Jon back on his feet again. The lure of the Mars Bar cake at Bocketts farm helped him to ride the next few miles to the tea stop.

After a good cup of tea, some went their own way back to Newlands Corner to their cars, whilst the rest of us headed back to Reigate. The early morning ride was taking its toll for some, so a gentle pace was maintained.

Getting back to Reigate Hill a couple of minutes past 1pm, we had clocked up a good 20 miles. Those on the early ride covered around 37 miles.
