Mud Sticks in Yorkshire

A number of RCC off roaders gathered, on time, at the Barley Basket in Welburn Yorks, a tea stop to dream about, the only problem is its 250 miles away.
We embarked on what was to prove to be a very well organised and rewarding weekend. 16 miles later, a touch of map reading and tons of self stick Yorkshire mud and we were warmed up for Saturdays big one.

Saturday dawned grey and chilly! Out to Dalby forest and on to one of the finest purpose built "Off Road" trails available.... it had something for everyone, long switchback climbs, single track on various surfaces, a playground just for the kids, winding and twisting descents through the trees not forgetting the Adrenaline rush drop offs and steep hair pin downhills. About 35Kms in all and sheer endurance to get to the end!.

If that wasnt enough our leader dragged us out of bed on Sunday morning took us to Compton and got our tired legs back in the forest and up on to the open moorland, great country, scenery to die for but water everywhere and it got everywhere! One or two of us took a lunchtime dip and I can assure everyone the water is extremely cold. More map reading skills required, lets face it! theres no one to ask and the sheep are are most unhelpful.

The leg pulling and the banter was as good as ever and the riding .. first class!. Go back? Yes please.
