Fast Training Rides

This week we have Gavin Garrett bravely volunteering to lead another ride on Saturday (22/12/07) at 7.30am from the bus shelter in Leigh village (opposite the Plough Pub) - Usual Surrey League based circuits. (Henfold Hill/Newdigate/Norwood Hill/Charlwood etc)

The weather forecast looks better for the weekend after a chilly week, so normal service should be resumed.

Sunday (23/12/07) we are proposing to join Graham and the rest of the club run for Santa's ride out to Cranleigh and back. Join us for a jolly ride to meet Santa who will greet us with mulled wine and mince pies and we may even call in on some nice people on the way home for a further tipple. Tis the season to be jolly.

Meet 9.00am at the Angel in Woodhatch

Hope as many as possible can make it out this weekend and I hope to be back asap.

Merry Christmas and have a very successful New Year !

Last weeks rides were as follows: (thanks again to Gavin)

Saturday’s riders were me, Chris King and Tim plus Steve Grundy for a small part of it. We did the usual start to Parkway and on towards Newdigate and right to Henfold. Steve Grundy left us at the right turn Triangle and the 3 of us completed the usual course through Leigh, Fox Revived and Charlwood. The run finished at Woodhatch with Chris freezing (he only had shorts on) and wanting to get home and Tim also needing to get back to Reigate.

Sunday: It looked OK when I ventured out at 7. There were only 2 others at the bus shelter – Duncan and Leigh.

As we set off we were all a little wary of possible ice and decided to head for main roads. Once on the A29 we began to settle into a reasonable pace with Duncan at the front and me on his wheel. Leigh turned off at Ockley and headed for home with Duncan and me continuing. We decided that with Duncan on the front throughout taking it ‘steady’ on his single speed bike and me sheltering on his wheel, we would both get the sort of pace we were looking for. And so it proved. The course took in the A281 and Rudgwick, Alfold and Cranleigh (where we stopped at Costa Coffee for a tea and hot chocolate!). Overall we did 50 miles plus at a suitable hr for both of us.
