A big thanks to all of the riders who competed for the club in this Championship event.
Despite everyone riding themselves into the ground, both teams unfortunately lost a rider early on, leaving the remaining 3 to battle on valiantly against the other 4s.
Whilst the event only attracted 12 teams, the lack of quantity was more than made up for by the quality of the riders entered.
Anyone know the course record for GS/189, i.e. the Faygate-Newdigate-Faygate course?
I seem to remember it was broken by Tadros in the Crawley CC event in February 2007.
Does anyone have a results sheet they could dig out?
A very pleasant mid-week Audax. Easy to get to and a 10.00 start time from Denham.
Rory, Graham, Malcolm and Russell were up at dawn on Sunday to make the start of the 200km Highclere Sportive near Newbury, with almost a thousand seriously competitive riders. There are two shorter rides, 70km and 120km...I wish I'd entered one of those because the 200km turned out to be 126 miles of unrelenting hills, 3000metres of climbs in all! I found it a challenge just to survive.
