The weather didn't dampen Amberley

Thirteen turned out for Graham's homecoming ride to Amberley.

Grey skies again but mostly we stayed dry.

New member Kevin stayed with us for a good while then the club headed under the railway at Warnham.

Graham's back wheel was making funny noises which we just couldn't fathom, so we pressed on and it behaved.

A few puncture stops (but in lovely scenery!) and we arrived safely on the river, which even on a dull day is beautiful.

We'd originally planned for 75 miles but ended up a little over. A good leg stetcher!

Alan Bush put us onto to this so I don't want to take any credit for his great idea but I'm happy to coordinate entries etc. Sounds like a PERFECT Redhill event, right up our street! Three distances 95, 60 and 20 miles, let's try and enter as a team and this time, get a group photo at the start at least!

The Haysom Homecoming Road Ride...

Submitted by rccadmin on Sun, 08/03/2008 - 01:00

This should be an event! Welcoming back Graham Haysom from his trans-Europe marathon, first with the Red to Med (was it 28 participants? 720 miles) and then to Spain and then all the way home! Our club runs will seem like a walk in the park at around 65 easy miles but a shorter return will be arranged for those with lunch committments.

Helmets, gloves and dazzling tops advised!

Please let me know you're attending: russell@redhillcc.co.uk 07970 507657

Good turnout for relaxed ride

Ten plucky riders turned out for this beginners/intermediate ride under grey clouds but we stayed dry! When it finally rained, we were in a lovely cafe in Oxted eating scones. The original plan was to meet Frank and the off road RCC (Reptile Cafe Crowd) in Tatsfield but after struggling with the enormous Chalkpit Hill we decided to go back to Oxted for a more sophisticated refreshment stop. A brisk ride home, 40 miles in all.
