Decent MTB Lights (on the cheap)

Submitted by Eag1E on Mon, 10/20/2008 - 19:13

Got into a conversation on Saturdays ride regarding the cost of decent MTB lights and someone mentioned (im not good with names) there wasnt much around for under £200.

Anyway for those interested after googling around a bit, you'd amazed at some of the lighting rigs people have setup for under £100 that give a Lupine Betty a run for her money, mainly based around Cree LED's emitters.

A fast ride in good Autumn weather

Another Saturday morning, another session of good, dry (and latterly warm and sunny) weather and another good ride by the “fast bunch”.

Actually a moderately paced ride that took us out to Ockley, then up Leith Hill, back down to Forest Green, then south and west through Weir Street and towards home. A stop at Leigh saw a number peel off leaving James, Rory and Allan to head off to some brisk circuits around Norwood Hill.

Great rides but some bad luck...

A good turnout for Saturday's training ride with perfect weather forecast for later but the roads were slippery early on; I hit an oily patch on the first corner, flew off and slid across the tarmac, with poor James following suit. Well, that's my three in a row and I was out of the Sunday Sportive...but then more bad luck on the Sunday: Brian Costello came a cropper and ended up with a broken collar bone and many bruises. He must have gone head first; he smashed his crash helmet, remembers nothing of the impact but later said 'the helmet probably saved my life'.
