Off Road - Info

Information about our Off-Road riding

Riding with a group adds an extra dimension of enjoyment to any ride, even more so when the ride is organised by an experienced leader who knows the trails and has put together an interesting route.

Redhill Cycling Club was established in 1945 and has been organising MTB rides throughout the year since 2000, during which time the number of participants has grown. The rides are designed to cater for off road cyclists who have a degree of MTB experience but who are perhaps looking to improve upon their fitness and technical ability.

Off Road Rides

Club Off Road Rides

Saturday Rides throughout the year start at 9.30am from a range of locations. The aim is to cover about 20 miles, which includes a tea stop, and return to the start point by 1pm.

For the more energetic, there is often an early morning Saturday ride heading out to the start point of the main ride. These are usually a bit faster than the main ride and don’t forget to save some energy to ride back afterwards.

Redhill CC Gear - in conjunction with Satmap.com

Redhill CC has teamed up with Satmap.com (a local GPS business, that happens to be passionate about cycling!)   This allows the club to effectively have a webshop for the gear without loads of admin hassle.

Off Road Responsibilities

Off-Road - Responsibilities

Riding in a group requires a bit of organisation and a few key people to hold the group together. If you are asked to Lead a ride, be the Back Marker or act as a Middle Marker, here are the tasks you need to perform.

There are a number of responsibilities that every rider should note so the ride runs smoothly.

Join us at the Angel at 9.00 for a 50-60 mile ride to Penshurst and back by 15.00.
Expect an average speed of about 15mph and lots of sociable company and a good tea stop.

Off Road Events

Redhill Cycling Club organises a range of special events throughout the year. These include weekends away to specialist mountain biking areas, days out for longer rides, participation in competitive and sponsored events. In recent years, these have included Afan (pictured above), Bike Park Wales and Cwm Carn. Other destinations have been Snowdonia, the Peak District, Exmoor, the Lake District and Dartmoor.

The events are usually posted on the website calendar and emailed out to the club’s members and as part of the club's weekly newsletter.
