After what seems like a long run of rainy Saturdays it was great to arrive at Reigate Hill Car Park in glorious sunshine. Thirteen of us set off over the A217 bridge on the usual cake hunt. Through Mogador then skirting past Epsom Race Course we headed towards Ashtead where the proximity of Bike Beans Café proved too much of a temptation for Phil and Rob. The rest of us followed my “avoiding the worst of the muddy bits on Stane Street” loop and headed towards Headley Heath where Ian and Sam peeled off because they needed to go home to bake some cakes. The remaining nine (getting quite good at this subtracting lark now) carried on because we needed to eat some cake. We got the usual warm welcome from Geoff at Destination Bike and lots of coffee, tea and cake disappeared in record time. That left just a straight run back to Reigate Hill via Buckland Lane. 20 miles and not a drop of rain.
