Redhill win in the RCC v OCC Interclub. Club TT - Round 12

Round 12 of the Summer TT series took place on Wednesday night and the long handled broom had to come out pre-race due to the storms of the previous night leaving all kinds of detritus on the corners. Sweeping and signage done and conditions were cloudy and somewhat cooler than previous weeks. A gusty breeze was coming from the west but another super turn out with 19 riders came down to Horne for a thoroughly good workout.

It was the un-official interclub between Oxted and Redhill and I’m please to say RCC took the win with a couple of minutes to spare. Results of that below.

Matt Peel took the scratch on the night with a tidy 19:13, 2seconds quicker than his seasons best time, 2nd on scratch was the ever present Steve Bryant with 21:21 creeping ever closer to that elusive sub 21 minute time. (still 6 more Weds to go Steve!). 3rd on the night for RCC was Ryan Harris with 21:37 and 4th went to James Penny who could definitely get very good at this TT lark. Sporting some new colour coordinated carbon wheels James put down the power and smashed his way around the course taking the honours in the Handicap with a massive 1:13 improvement on his time from a few week previous.

Gina and Kimbers were happy bunnies and there was much mirth and high fiving following their ten seconds improvement in there now regular 2 up TT slot.

Second in the Handicap was Nathan on the same fixed gear as last week (48x15 for you fixie aficionados!) and sliced over a minute from the previous week. Rounding out the Handicap podium was Stuart Bunt with a new course PB and 29 second improvement from his last effort some weeks previous.

There is a new course record for fastest Brompton. Alan Miles came along in an effort to put in some fast miles on his Brompton as he puts the finishing touches to his training for the Brompton World Champs in a few weeks. 25:21 is the Benchmark. Anyone fancying beating this do come along with your Brompton next week.

Thanks to Nathan for doing the signage and sweeping and to Stuart Bunt for pushing off and setting off last man - forgoing his warm up. Best wishes to Keith Lea (Paceline RT) who had to pull out mid race feeling rather unwell.

Still no MTB’s yet this year. Come on you off roaders – where are you?.

Next week is the Interclub with Norwood Paragon. Bring your fastest wheelset testers!
