Club AGM

A VERY SPECIAL MONDAY EVENING.

Monday's AGM saw in excess of seventy members showing up to see the retirement of John Eglinton as President of Redhill CC and the appointment of Adrian Webb to the post, as Peter Farnfield took on the role of Chairman from Adrian.

Peter King CBE - the ex-CEO of British Cycling and often credited with inspiring the national growth and success of cycling in the UK - was in attendance and gave an emotional tribute to John's lifetime of service to the sport and the club. Peter gave us an insight into John's early days as a cyclist and said that it was John who had originally introduced him to cycling - an incredible testament to John's influence on cycling nationally. , The  evening was further enhanced by the presence of John Bartley who is a past member of the committee. He and his wife Judy were a mainstay of the club in the 90's supporting all the club events and providing a home for the committee meetings with tea and cake added. John resigned from the club having suffered from ill health after leaving his job at Heathrow airport and it was felt that his previous efforts had not been sufficiently recognised. The club is therefore happy to make a suitable redress by making John a life member.

The story goes even deeper as on the night John's son, Dan, now elected to serve as our club racing secretary - so the dynasty rolls on!

The rest of the evening went well with a new committee elected and formed. We wish the committee well and you can see the full roll of Committee members who will serve at least through until November 2017 by clicking here
