Following his success in taking the lead in Redhill Cycling Club’s Time Trial Championship, Claude Lhomme took a scorching fourth place out of a field of over 50 riders in the Surrey league Category 4 road race at Goodwood last Sunday.
In the 30 mile race, Claudemoved to the front of the field in the penultimate lap and put his considerable strength and skill into powering to the finish. Four other Redhill CC riders also took part in the race with Richard Sanders taking 8th place but the remaining riders’ finishes were spoilt by a dramatic crash that took down three riders and delayed half of the field.
Meanwhile in the 3rds and Juniors race, James finished in the top 20 somewhere- whilst not being is highest result in a Goodwood road race, James felt that he was going much better than usual and managed to close gaps from breakaways quite a few times, and out at the front quite a bit too.
