And then there were nine…

There were just eight to start on a jaw-numbingly cold morning at Ranmore Common car park – though Colin was all right thank you, having come as 'The Milk Tray Man'. Moji was also sporting her glamorous new bike – all shiny and scarlet and light-weight.
 
I had a cunning plan – to avoid all mud and take advantage of usually dry trails and the crisp conditions. Suffice to say I was thwarted! We still found mud in abundance and I managed to do a spot of toppling and wallowing in a particularly muddy patch. To the hilaaaaaarity of all who were there to witness it!
 
The route dropped down past Cole Kitchen Farm to Gomshall, up again via Newlands Corner, down to the A324 to Squires. After tea and buns it was back up through Sheepleas where Julian rescued me from a moment of uncertainty and took the pic.
 
We arrived back a little after one having confounded the usual way these things go; arriving back with an increase in numbers. We had picked up Nick's chum on his fat bike along the way and were thoroughly impressed with the way he seemed to float over the muck. Obviously the way to go…
