Chris excels to set up men's and RCC win at Sporting 14

The field for the RCC hosted event was a strong one - but most particularly in the brilliant turn out of women competitors... a fact that has led to lots of praise, along with the smooth running and warm welcome offered by our excellent marshals and 'tea and cake team' on the day.

Among the record number of entrants - over 45 of whom started on the day - Chris had strong contenders in the men's competition from Colin McDermott of Festival RC and Dave Dent of Wightlink Offshort but on the day was the only competitor to record a time under 33 minutes with his 32:43. And, as the report writer can witness, this was after being held up for some time on the way back towards Faygate behind a car on a key bend.

Strava afficionados among you may also be interested to see that in taking the title, Chris took a joint KOM for the much-ridden Rusper Golf Club Hill segment with an average speed of 32.5mph.

Redhill's Team win was brought home with Matt Peel clocking a 33:52 for 4th spot and Neil Candler hitting some excellent form with a 34:45 for 7th. Roly Kitson, who is becoming one of the bedrocks of RCC's TT scene - home and away - was just 4 seconds off a sub-36 time: superb for a V56 by anyone's standards.

It was one of the warmest TT's for some time which added to the challenges of a hilly course but the excellent turn out of first timers and women trying their hand at the 'Race of Truth' is a great indicator for the rise of Time Trials as a way of challenging yourself. Why not you next time?
