Seale it with a kiss

When I saw over 20 riders gathered at the Drome on Bank Holiday Monday, I was worried. Fortunately a group went off with Ian Taylor leaving 14 of us headed for Seale Craft Centre.

Alex F and Chris S peeled off early leaving the 'official' maximum number of 12 riders. The pace was steady (i.e. that of the slowest rider, me). We arrived at Seale at abour 12. It has become a popular stop for a variety of cyclists and was nearly full. The service was understandably slow and we did not leave until well after 1. Weighed down with a large piece of excellent bara brith, I was glad that the run to Elstead was predominantly downhill.

During our stop, I discovered that my Satmap wpuld not switch on so I had to remember the route back. As a consequence I missed a turn in Bowlhead Green but with the help of a map on Julian's Iphone we quickly picked up the route. We then found our way blocked by some event involving large numbers of parked cars and pedestrains. We were advised to take a different road which took us up a hill with a 17% gradient. When we reached the A283, with another check of Julians's map, we hit the road that leads from MIlford through Hydestile to the Cranleigh Road. After Cranleigh, most of the faster riders up the speed for home leaving a small group to escort the old man back.

Good company, good weather, good route and 98 miles clocked off.
