Where did you say we were going?

I told them (Emma, Michelle,Katie, Jill, Stuart, John, Hedley, Harley, John B) we were going to Chartwell, 45 miles, one hill, by a nice unusual route. And so the ten of us were for the first mile - then the satnav packed up (not been charged up (again), mea culpa).

So, "change of plan folks- don't know this route well enough to do it without a map".

Stuart said "we could go to Cranleigh instead".

"OK" says I, and we cut across via Charlwood and Rusper through Capel etc.

At Capel John B. decided to save himself for THE Sportive and turned back.

In Forest Green, I thought as I looked round the group that I had taken many/most of them to Cranleigh two weeks previously, which would be boring and becoming like some other clubs' rides.

So, "change of plan folks, we're not going to Cranleigh" and turned up and over Holmbury Hill, along the A25 for a bit and then back over Peaslake Hill, through Ewhurst, Walliswood, Capel etc. and home via Woodhatch.

53 miles, circa 3000 feet and a reasonable speed.

So, where did we go? - the clock in the picture is on the back wall of Tilly's in Gomshall.

P.s. Sorry team, hope the unexpected ride was OK.

P.p.s. Sorry Stuart and Jill, hope the extra miles and feet didn't affect your efforts on THE Sportive on Sunday

P.p.p.s. Sorry Harley, didn't mean to cut you partly out of the photo - and you resplendent in your new club jersey too!

P.p.p.p.s Sorry Katie, being later back than planned, hope it didn't cause too many problems.
