Motton wins club champ 25 in close-fought battle

Redhill had a very strong turnout of six riders competing for the 2014 RCC 25 mile Championship Trophy at the SCCU 25 last weekend.

Brian Hennessey, Nick Davy, Matt Peel, Will Henton, Ray Sullivan and David Motton were all riding, along with Cynthia Hennessey marshalling at the HQ.

Due to the Southwater roadworks, a special emergency version of the normal G25/53 course had been concocted by the SCCU to squeeze a 25 mile TT on roads that normally only hold a 10. Without the hills this could be a fast course, however with 31 roundabouts to negotiate a certain amount of luck would need to be on the victors side.

Redhill riders finished as follows:-

17th - David Motton - 56:37

23rd - Matt Peel - 57:18

29th - Brian Hennessey - 58:24

35th - Nick Davy - 58:57

45th - Ray Sullivan - 1:00:28

61st - Will Henton - 1:03:14

Without exception all stand-out performances with RCC really raising their game for the occasion - well done all, especially David for winning the Championship 25 after 10 years of trying.

The event overall was won by Chris McNamara, winner of our own Open 14 in July, with a 50:53.
