Brian Hennessey competed in the annual South Counties Cycle Union 100 mile Championship TT on Sunday and finished with a 4:28:11 to take 27th place overall of 69 starters and the club championship for 2014.
As the only RCC competitor Brian could have rolled in his usual manner of dogged determination set himself a hard target of 4:20 to push himself all the way around the course.
Cynthia was on hand as ever handing up bottles, an essential supporting role in a sporting 100 such as this. As last year the course was the G100/60E - an emergency course used when roadworks are in place on the Horsham dual carriageway, which features twisty country lanes interspersed with uphill duall carriageway 'respites'.
The event was won overall by Steve Kane with a 3:54:45.
Chapeaux to Brian, he may have been the only competitor but it was a sterling effort that had him walking funny for a few days after - championship deserved.
