SWALK (Seale with a lumpy kick)

Twelve riders at the Drome included a couple of newcomers plus Mari back with us after a long break.

We set off at a brisk pace riding in a nice peleton (that didn't last long). Along Flanchford Road, Nick the Bun came to the front (yes, Nick was riding in the group, not 100 yards off the front!) to tell me that he thought we were one short. Not wanting to be accused for being one rider short of a peleton, we retraced our steps to find Terry a mile back down the road repairing a puncture. He had dropped back a bit so no-one heard his cry of 'flat!'.

Back together again, we carried on to Weare Street, looking exceptionally beautful (the scenery that is, not the peleton)in the Spring sunshine, to the exceedingly lumpy section between Dunsfold and Goldalming. From there it is only another 9 miles through Puttenham to Seale.

The tea room is becoming increasingly popular with the growing community of recreational cyclists. Our arrival finally overwhelmed two elderly ladies and a young girl, who seemed to spend at least a third of their time debating what needed doing next. When they arrived, the home made cakes were excellent.

After about an hour, we got on our way again. We took the shorter route back via Elstead, Milford, Hydestile and Cranleigh to complete another good ride in even better company.

p.s. For this who are wondering, in the days of snail mail, people would write SWALK on an envelope to their loved one (sealed with a loving kiss). Although I preferred NORWICH!
