Not so Sureham Quintet

As a substitute for Shoreham Airport, Camelia Botnat made an excellent destination for today’s social ride.

With newcomers Sarah, Dzana (say Jana), Alan and Mark we carved a fine bunch of chiselled whippets. On a beautiful autumn day we aimed for Turners Hill via a puncture at Copthorne repaired with skill and dexterity by Alan ably assisted by strongman “no levers for me” Mark. Then through Handcross where the crowds were lining the streets – actually for the L2B Veteran Car Run (they really should consider upgrading for younger models as us older chaps often quote) – and across to Camelia Botnar for tea and cake via Warninglid. A few tired legs on the spiky drag north to Colgate but, that done, the Drome hove into sight just after 2.30.
Thank you, a simply lovely run round of about 50 miles.
