11 of us set off from Rykas. A slightly shorter route than usual was decided because of the wet ground conditions & likelihood of rain. Up Crabtree Lane & across Norbury Park where we had the only puncture of the day. Then to Polesden Lacey & up the long flint track to the Drove road & on to Newlands Corner. Back the same way & then along the Ranmore road to avoid the boggy Ranmore tracks. Drizzley rain for the last 30 min as we negotiated the steep Denbies track. Total distance 21 miles. The Reigate Hill starters completed another 13 miles making the total 34 . Find of the day - a magnificent sea urchin type flint fossil found by Julian around Box Hill before the start of the ride. I know I'll be looking at the ground more closely as I'm climbing the flint tracks in future!
