Despite some early controversy regarding the route, my inaugural ride as G3 lead passed happily without major incident.
Beginner's luck perhaps blessed a ride that's most significant issue was a broken helmet strap.
A large group of 18 kept well together, completing 55 miles and about 3,200ft of climbing. A cheeky/sadistic bit of route planning took us up Tilburstow on the last leg (see picture).
Memories of Mallorca were sparked with two cars stopping to let us out of junctions in the first five minutes! Perhaps finally we have won the war on Britain's roads!!
