Sunshine and primroses all the way

Numbers at the Drome were swelled by G5 refugees from flooding in the New Forest (and cancellation of the Sportive). The 17 riders included our Chair on his new shiny machine, a Genesis Equilibrium Ti..

We headed through Rusper to Warnham where Pete Toothill turned back. Shortly after Broadbridge Heath, Adrian, Alan, Andre and newcomer, Nieisen, turned off to Sumners Pond. The remaining 12 climbed Bashurst Hill where a flat enabled the leader (?) to catch up. Leaving Dave G to bring up rest, six of us carried on to establish our base at Wiggenholt RSPB Bird Reserve.

Suitably refreshed we headed west and then swung north to get the wind on our back. The long climb up Fittleworth Hill gave us plenty of time to admire a fantastic display of primroses. A steep twisty descent brought us to Wisborough Green where a faster group went off the front leaving the remaining six to follow at a more leisurely pace.

A day that reminded us (at long last!) of the delights of Spring cycling in the sun.
