Spring in the air? Mud on the ground...

With conditions underfoot resembling the Somme, an enthusiastic group showed up to do battle with the trails north of Tilford. Even thick gloopy mud and the occasional swamp did little to dampen the mood on such a mild, Spring-like day, with no threat of impending rain for a change. The trails led us through wooded singletrack, open farmland and past picture-postcard fishing lakes. After a well-earned tea and cake stop at Watts Gallery in Compton, it was up onto the sandy heathland of Puttenham Common with opportunities for those brave enough, to tackle the roller coasters and jumps. Only 19 miles, but plenty of variety, and a tough ride in such conditions.

Oh, and did I mention the mud.......??
