At the Drome, the G1s watched scores and scores of riders head off into the sunny surrey morning and as the numbers whittled down, we were left with a perfect seven for a relatively local pootle. Lots of chatter about the Tour and (subsequently rewarded) confidence that Wiggo would do it. Our pace was a little different but still...
The route was a simple Charlwood, Rusper, Tanhouse loop and in tow we had Heidi, Richard B as stirling back marker, Gemma, Maria, John H and Kimbers. It was gorgeous... warm, still, lovely gentle miles and for the Chairman returning after three weeks off the bike with a dodgy foot, a very welcome return.
Tanhouse has been extended, refurbed and made even more wonderful and welcoming for cyclists. New undercover areas for rain (not that we have any of that!) and seating... even at the early hour we stopped there was a fence-full of bikes.
The route back threw in a little detour up Blanks Lane and the not-oft-frequented Horse Hill route back to Horley to drop Maria off before a return to the Drome with exactly 30 miles on the clock at an average of 14.5mph.
Thanks everyone. Lovely!
