The Redhill 14mile Open Sporting Time Trial on Saturday, coming as it did at the end of the Jubilee week, attracted a small but very competitive field of 23 riders including no fewer than 7 of Redhill's finest.Despite the weather that we have all endured we were able to run the event on the deamanding Faygate - Rusper - Newdigate - Parkgate - Rusper - Faygate course in dry if breezy conditions. 4 Redhill riders featured in the top 10 with Charl Jordaan 3rd overall in 33m 40s, Neil Candler 6th in 35m 01s, Paul Read 8th (35.16) and Jamie Hill 9th (35.38) The overall win was taken for the 2nd year by Rupert Burbidge (In Gear Quick Vit Train Sharp) in 32m 15s with Liam Maybank (TwickenhamCC) in 2nd on 33m05s. Liam also took the Veterens prize beating Geoff Smith (Eastbourne Rovers) by 32s. The winner of the women's competition was Ulrike von Saldern (Dulwich Paragon CC (44m 50s). Thanks to Frank Cubis (Kingston Phoenix), Maurice Brennan, Nathan Chamberlain, Mike Conway, John Eglinton, Ray Sullivan, Jo Dipple, Michelle Tolson Lariviere and Maria Balbi for their help on the day.
