Fourteen riders of varying abilities gathered set off from Woodhatch towards Rusper.
It was not long before a group of G5 riders came storming past. Nick, Howard and Charl accepted the challenge and jumped on the back. Nick re-joined the social ride in Newdigate. Apart from one puncture, we had then an uneventful ride past Warnham Station, Broadbridge Heath and Bashurst Hill to Wisborough Green. Here we found Howard installed in the Old Mill cafe with his second cup of coffee. (No sign of a Mill so I dug up an old photo for the report).
Suitable refreshed, we headed back via Drungewick Lane and past the Mucky Duck. In Cox Green, we were in familiar territory, everyone knew the route and the riders spread out. Rob had dropped off the back (unknown to the leader, me) with a sore back when it finally seized up. Fortunately Nick spotted the problem and stayed with him (thanks Nick) until Rob's wife could rescue him.
A couple more riders were left near Leigh dealing with a flat. The rest of us hit home just as the rain started.
We agreed that the Old Mill Cafe could be highly recommended, it is within easy striking distance for a Saturday G4.
55 miles from Woodhatch return.
