Winter sun greets the first ride of 2012

Sixteen riders set off from Woodhatch Park to follow a familiar route over Turners Hill, through Horsted Keynes, Danehill, Chelwood Gate, Nutley to the top of Ashdown Forest. The views were magnificent with the sharp clarity only the winter sun can bring. Well worth the long climb.
We descended to the Pantry in Hartfield, reduced to 12 by now as there were a few 'early returners' who had turned off for home. Refreshed we returned via Butcherfield Lane, Holtye Common and the hammer ponds. At Dormansland, a couple of riders returned home directly via Lingfield while the rest of us decided to enjoy the sun a little longer. We took a loop across to Marlpit Hill finally returning via Horne.

65 miles of sunny riding at a social pace.
