Xmas Turbo Session not as gentle as billed!

Jonny was positively interested in the pain. He had pain mapping software on hand (I think he called it a powermeter) while Ryan, Kimberly and Maria took to the added pain of the spin bikes. Meanwhile yours truly switched the music around to keep the motivation up.

We based the evening around blocks of 20:40s - 20 seconds going hard (between 8.5 and 10 on the effort scale) before winding back smoothly for 40 seconds recovery. Lots written about the theory on this but for the first one or two you think 'what's the fuss' and by the time you get to No.6 you think 'when will it stop?'

By the time the second block comes round, people find themselves able to apply more power. By the time we did the fourth block of three, power was high but it was a grit-the-teeth job.

Fun? Yeah, sort of!

Anyway, the Turbo sessions will be back early January (watch the calendar). The best way to stay in good condition during the icy months with an extra hour or two a week.

Thanks to the fantastic four who turned out and if you want to see what Jonny managed to pump out in power, see the other picture linked to this story. However, the upshot is that in terms of gentleness it was apparently 'just as hard as the Sufferfest'. I almost feel proud!
