What does a Christmas fairy, two Santas and their reindeer have in common? The answer is they took time out from their busy schedule to join RCC mtbers on their Christmas ride.

At 9.30 a group of 20 headed off from the Sportsman lead by a Christmas tree. Fortunately the tree was attached to Sue's helmet so there was no fear of getting lost. As she lead the group out onto many new trails around Walton, Tadworth, Kingswood and Mugswell the group expanded as Phil.S and later 3 others joined the group. There was a surprise tea stop at Sue’s house where homemade muffins, warm mince pies and chocolate logs were served by Santa.

On arrival at the tea stop there was quite a buzz among the group and Santa was told how Phil.S disappeared a few miles into the ride and then, miraculously, Jesus appeared on a bike and decided to join them. He seemed very friendly and enjoyed a nice cup of tea before disappearing to fulfil other commitments, we did not mind as after all it is a busy time of year for him.

After 14miles the group arrived back at the Sportsman and said farewell to a few and hello to others including Monika whom we had not seen for a quite. After drink and for most a change of clothes 20 sat down for a lovely meal. Mat popped in for a chat but he was a bit too muddy to sit in the comfy and nicely carpeted restaurant. We left at a leisurely pace a few hours later,

There were lots of smiles and people seemed to have a great time. Comments about a great atmosphere and being impressed with Sue's knowledge of the area, leadership and muffin making skills were overheard.

The day was summed up by one the group ‘Great ride can't wait till next year’.
