Clearly not enough people have looked their 2012 goals in the eye yet and realised that if they want to conquer those hills, miles and races the work starts in Winter. More specifically, at the weekly RCC Turbo Sessions at the YMCA.
Four of us turned up and took the opportunities to investigate the places that other training doesn't reach. Kimberley used one of the spin bikes available (looked tough...) while Nathan and Roger used their usual steeds while I loaded up a playlist that ranged from the Bee Gees to Paul Van Dyk via Chrissie Hynde singing 'Live and Let Die' to guide the bunch through two blocks of descending spirals with a few 20/40s thrown in for good measure.
The session was a little late kicking off due to the Pilates class beforehand but still offered 50 minutes of heat generating progress.
Stepping out into the evening air and then back into the room to collect stuff one noticed a temperature rise that surprised even the YMCA staff. So, come on folks, it's the most fun you can have on a Wednesday evening for £2 and I guarantee it will deliver at least one occasion in Spring when you'll think: "if it hadn't been for the turbo sessions, I'd have been dropped there..."
