Can’t think of the last time we got some real dirt on those shiny black Redhill off road tops. Plenty of slosh to plod through, we set off up to the North Downs to the look out on gravelly hill. Thick mist greeted us, we could barely see each other let alone the views.

Steaming on we followed the tourist route to Warlingham. A new layer of leaves and plenty of wet slippery clay meant the going was fairly tough and treacherous - Easy going now.

Simple obstacles and small drops that in the summer are tackled at speed became a problem and a little more concentration was needed. Greetings to the dear old chap on the horse we passed on route. We found some new and interesting tracks in Marden Park, all planned of course. Choice of options:bridle ways or single track those that could be bothered kept everyone interested.

Tea stop was cut short as Colin could only conjure up one joke, something about cleaning up after yourself, with a sock. I wasn’t listening!

Back home via Warren Barn Farm, where the steep trail is notoriously fast. We clocked speeds of 35+ mph. 40mph is quick on a MTB bike. Then back via the tourist route to Mercers

Very pleasant pace, very pleasant company and very pleasant all round as the sun peaked through for the second part. Smiles all round. See you next time (Wescott for damage limitation)
